Texas Primaries and Voter Suppression in Dallas

A chaotic rule change wreaked havoc, putting a damper on a sharp rise in voter enthusiasm on the Democratic side. Meanwhile, some surprising (or perhaps not) results on the Republican side.

This week, Wren spoke to Joe Cascino, a Texas political consultant, about the chaotic changes to voting procedures in Dallas that disenfranchised registered voters in the recent primaries. Many who merely attempted to vote the same way they had for over a decade were turned away, and the Attorney General and Texas Supreme Court threw a wrench into local efforts to extend voting. The issues were beyond alarming and will loom large over the general midterm election this Fall.
